Fly, Baby, Fly

Marian Hollowell

co-founding member of art6 and performance director

She began her career as a singer / actress, performing on most Richmond stages, beginning at the Virginia Museum Theatre as Queen Guinevere in Camelot.

She has since added other art forms to her palette of life over the years:

poetry [published], prose, ink drawings, pastels, acrylic, mixed media, assemblage / sculpture, printmaking / calligraphy, monoprints, and plexiglas dry point.

Her ink drawings can be found of the inside lyric / liner notes of the latest released Floating Folk Festival cd.

Every year she gives her special performance,

Everybody Play Nice.

SR has attended her last four events at Art6 Gallery
and urge you to support this series. These are unique readings, no repeats, always her latest stuff. If you wish to catch up on her creations, her books are available at Shop6, Art6 gallery's store.

I stand in front

Of myself

Catching all the nuances

Hidden beneath the breath

That sinks lower

With each intake

A sigh holds its own hand

Trembling

Wondering which

Decade

Would it be over

And could let go

Wing and a prayer

Fly

Madame Song Flower

In full bloom

Taking off into the Unknown

Where being too nice

Is no longer a crime

Loving too much

Wouldn’t cost a dime

I stand in front

Of myself

Wondering how long

Will it take

Better still

How much longer

Must I wait?
